Explore the Abandoned Ruins of Colorado’s Historic Prosser Gulch

Partially because of Colorado's rich history of mining in the mid-1800s, there are plenty of abandoned buildings, mines, and even entire towns littered across the state.

Many of these abandoned mining establishments are located high in the mountains, and a few are scattered near the historic Central City, a town that is still very much active today as one of the state's few gambling towns.
While it's highly discouraged to visit one of these places in person for both legal and safety reasons, sometimes we get lucky and are treated to a virtual tour.

As you can see in the above virtual tour, Prosser Gulch consists of several old buildings comprised of stone, wood, and metal, as well as some old homes and even an old, rusty, abandoned car.

Like many of the abandoned places in Colorado, it is not recommended that you attempt to visit these places in person, as not only are they typically private property, making entering the premises illegal, but as noted in the above tour, many of these buildings are anything but structurally sound and are prone to collapse.
