If you fancy yourself a Colorado history buff, you are likely also aware of the countless towns that were established across the state during the mining boom of the 1800s. In addition, you're probably also aware that the majority of these old mining towns have been sitting abandoned for many years.

While it's fun to see what these old ghost towns are like, it's extremely dangerous and often illegal to visit many of them in person. However, it's also enjoyable and much safer to take virtual tours of these forgotten places in the comfort of your home.

Colorado's Forgotten Ghost Town of Goldfield

Just west of Colorado Springs and Pueblo sits an area that was booming back in the state of Colorado's early days.

While towns like Cripple Creek and Victor are still around, another old mining community known as Goldfield was once located a stone's throw away and has been sitting abandoned for some time.

As you'll see below, it's extremely dangerous to attempt to visit Goldfield in person but, as you'll also see below in a virtual tour of the ghost town, there are certainly some unanswered questions regarding what has been found in the area.

For example, some of the findings were an odd, partially underground building made of stone, another tiny building with what appears to be a workbench still hanging on, old mining equipment left to rust, and an extremely unsettling description of one of the rooms in an abandoned house scrawled on a wall.
