While some of these properties have undoubtedly only been abandoned for a handful of years, some of them date back to the days prior to Colorado receiving statehood.
One property that dates back to 1915 has been sitting abandoned for roughly 24 years and while an attempt to admit it into Colorado's register of historic properties was made, that request was denied.
It should be noted that attempting to visit this property is highly discouraged for legal and safety reasons, but if you keep scrolling you can take a virtual tour.
Abandoned Colorado Farm Denied Historic Status
Oddly enough, the property is located near two rather major roads but if you blink, you'll likely miss it.
The property was a functioning farm with numerous structures between the years of 1915 and 2000 but has since been sitting abandoned.
Today, the structure that was the main cabin has collapsed, leaving only one, small structure standing. In addition, there are also two cement foundations that no longer have buildings, or materials from said buildings, on them.
Again, it's important that you refrain from attempting to explore this property on your own, but if you keep scrolling, you can take a virtual tour of the old, abandoned farm below:
