Top 5 Video Games Set In Colorado
Since it is a well-documented fact that I am a grown-up 12-year-old, I love video games. I also love Colorado. So, it goes without saying that it doesn't get any better for me than when video games use Colorado as a playable level or world. Here are just a few that portray the world we actually live in.
1. Forza Horizon
Forza Horizon for the Xbox 360 is the best video game set in Colorado since it's the only one I'm aware of that is completely based around Colorado. It's not mile-for-mile accurate, but generally portrays the geography of the state. The fact that you can do things in sports cars you could never afford is gravy.
2. Need For Speed - The Run
Need For Speed - The Run gets special mention because it includes not one, but two levels based near our part of Colorado. The level known as "The Rockies" uses highways between Aspen and Glenwood Springs and in some cases, nearly identically mirrors what you'll find near Glenwood Springs.
3. The Last Of Us
The Last Of Us is a post-apocalyptic PS4 game that has a level called "The Hunt" which appears to be based in Colorado.
4. Dead Rising
Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 is one of the original zombie games and happens to be set in a fictional Colorado town known as "Williamette".
Outlast is a first-person horror game that is set in an asylum deep in the mountains of Lake County, Colorado.
All these games have one thing in common - you can generally do things that would either be dangerous or illegal if attempted in real life. So, if you've ever fantasized about taking a Porsche over Red Mountain Pass at high speed, this is your chance.
