‘World’s Smallest Ski Resort’ Is For Sale
Colorado's Sharktooth Ski Area is for sale.
Over on the front range near Greely, Colorado is what's left of The Sharktooth Ski Area. This fun winter hangout back in the '70s and '80s is for sale. How much? Just $1.4 million.
That's a steal for the 18.54-acre property now called Sharktooth Retreat. It's currently a residential property that includes a couple homes, a 60x60 metal building, plus a ton of old swag from the ski area. The legendary ski hill, ice skating rink, and tubing run was where many a family spent winter weekends back in the day. The reason I said it's "a steal" is that Colorado's other private ski resort currently for sale, Elk Island Ranch, is a bit more at $36 million.
Sharktooth is a modest ski operation, to say the least. The place only has the one slope that's 1,000-foot run that slopes down from a 4,750 feet elevation down of 4,600 feet. The hill, or I guess you can call is a 'run', is about 400 feet wide with a tow rope to drag you back to the top. Anyway, if you happen to have a cool $1.5 mill lying around, here's your chance to own a 'ski resort' of your own.
Why is it for sale? Current owners Philip and Karen Erby, who bought the property in back in 1998, are both in their 70s and looking to 'downsize.'
