Woman Tries to Cash Check Stolen from Grand Junction Mailbox
A woman entered a local bank and attempted to cash one of two personal checks that had been stolen from a Grand Junction mailbox.
Crime Stoppers of Mesa County reports the checks were stolen from a residential mailbox in the 2700 block of F 1/2 Road sometime between January 11th and January 13.
This also is around the same time the Mesa County Sheriff's Office received a number of reports of checks being stolen from residential mailboxes.
Around 5 p.m. on January 13, a woman had altered and then tried to cash one of the checks at Alpine National Bank. The woman was able to leave the bank before authorities could detain her.
