Stolen Moped Is Mesa County Crime of the Week
If you have seen this moped around town, there's a good chance it was stolen.
A moped, stolen several weeks ago, has become the Crime Stoppers of Mesas County crime of the week and authorities are trying to find the bike and the thief.
The Crime
On November 8, a yellow moped was stolen from a residence in the 1300 block of Kennedy Avenue. The bike is described as a 1979 Yamaha Chappy Moped with an estimated value of over $2000.
It Might Not Be Yellow
As you can see, the stolen moped is yellow, but, there's a possibility the color has changed. If you were a thief, wouldn't you try to change the color of the stolen merchandise to try and minimize detection? That definitely makes sense, so keep that in mind if you see a moped in your neighborhood that looks similar to the one in the picture, even if it's not yellow.
What To Do If You Think You've Seen It
It's possible you know the identity of the suspect involved in this theft, or perhaps have seen a moped matching the description. In either case, contact Crime Stoppers at 970-241-7867 or you can use their mobile app P3Tips. You can always report information about crimes anonymously and information you provide that leads to an arrest could earn you $1,000. While this crime took place several weeks ago, at this point it is an unsolved mystery and there is a good chance the moped is still in the area. Any help you can provide to locate it and the suspect is greatly appreciated.
