Wildfires Are Burning In Genesee

Traffic along I-70 has slowed due to smoke from a fire near Genesee.

I just made that trip from Denver this morning. My only delay was from the CDOT's rock scaling project near Idaho Springs. Traffic was stopped for about a half hour both on the trip over on Tuesday afternoon and my trip back.

Since I rolled through a 2-acre brush fire has broke out along I-70 near Genesee. Firefighters are on the scene trying to get the fire under control. The fire broke out around 3 pm local time. More than 30 firefighters from several counties are battling the blaze.

At last report, a portion of U.S. Highway 40 was closed. If I was traveling that way, I'd double check with CDOT for the very latest information.
