I love Doritos, and I am not the only one. There are millions of people who are in love with this tasty snack and just can't get enough. But, what is it about Doritos chips that make them so completely irresistable?Of course, there are countless varieties of Doritos. I find myself drawn to the regular and the traditional nacho cheese flavored, and occasionally the taco flavored. But, regardless of which variety I choose, the results are the same. At the end of the evening, the bag is nearly empty. They are nearly impossible to eat in moderation.

Food scientist Steven A. Witherly, author of Why Humans Like Junk Food,  says there  are many things that contribute to the addictive nature of Doritos.

Par of the problem, he says, is that Doritos are 50% fat, which tricks the brain into thinking you're not eating as much as you think you are. The other half of the equation is that they taste so good thanks to ingredients like real Romano cheese, garlic powder, plus three kinds of salt. He also mentions the  citric and lactic acids that contribute to the eating impulse.

Personally, I think we can't resist them because they are just flat out yummy delicious!

I usually try to limit my intake of Doritos, although there are times when I know I am fighting a losing battle and  I put up no resistance whatsoever, shoveling one chip into my mouth after another. I would like to think I'm not alone in my battle against Doritos. Surely, there are others who are having the same struggle with this most delicious snack.
