Thanksgiving Day is the new opening day at Vail. For the second year in a row, opening day has been pushed back.

The lack of snow has forced Vail Resorts to delay opening day at Vail Mountain. Thursday, Nov. 23rd is the new start date. Beaver Creek is set to open the day before on Wednesday, Nov. 22ed.

The delay isn't anything new. Looking back over the years records show a dry fall snow season hits about every three to five years. The mountain operations crew on Vail Mountain had been making snow on a couple runs. However, the lack of the real stuff has forced the delay. There is good news for the Colorado higher elevation resorts. Colder weather is moving into the area later this week and into the weekend. That with some of the forecasted snow should make the Thanksgiving Day opener a safe bet.
