Parts of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers are under flood advisories.

All Colorado counties west of the divide are under some type of flood watch or advisory.  As the snow melts at a rapid pace the rivers are rising just as quickly. A Flood Warning is in effect for Southwestern Rio Grande County until 10:30 AM Friday and Southeastern Conejos County through Friday as well.

The National Weather Service warns that water levels will continue to rise over the next few days. Already, parts of walking and biking trails are flooded along several stretches of the Colorado River in and around Grand Junction.

There are two flood advisories in place for the region as well. One is for the Colorado River at along the Utah state line, the second is for the Gunnison River near the confluence of the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers.

There's an outside chance of scattered thunderstorms in the higher elevations in Colorado this weekend. Any additional heavy rain in and around these areas will only add to the problem. The NWS is warning too that it may be mid-summer before the rivers are back to normal levels.
