Heat And “Red Flag Warnings” Are In Effect
Colorado is getting hit with a heatwave.
Temperatures are expected to be exceptionally high, at or near records, today and tomorrow over on the Front Range. Some areas will be at or near the 100-degree mark for highs, that's according to the National Weather Service. Denver was forecasted to reach 100-degrees today (Wednesday) with highs at or about the century mark through the end of the week. Pueblo was forecast to reach 102 degrees Thursday and 103 on Friday!
Here on the western slope the 5-day forecast show's afternoon highs in the triple digits. In addition to the heat, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of western Colorado and eastern Utah. The warnings will remain in effect through Thursday evening at 8 PM. The warning means "...that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior."
