There is nothing like a trip down the Colorado River to get a snapshot of pre-historic Colorado history.

The history of the western Colorado landscape is fascinating and here is your opportunity to experience it first hand with a guided tour on the Colorado River.

Colorado Canyon Association Education Director Rob Gray is hosting a raft trip through the Ruby Horsethief section of the Colorado River. As a paleontologist, Gay has uncovered fossils that are hundreds of millions of years old.

This guided tour happens April 10-12 and promises to be an unforgettable adventure fo anyone wanting to learn more about the billions of years of history recorded in the western Colorado rocks and landscape. From the earliest dinosaurs to Ice Age mammoths, the landscape has quite a story to tell.

Floating on the river through the canyonlands, exploring trails and canyons in search of prehistoric evidence, and sipping local wine and beer under the night sky at the end of the day highlight the weekend. Food and beverages are provided for the trip along with group river equipment, shuttle transportation, along with a wealth of knowledge and information about Ruby Horsethief from a professional paleontologist guide.

Maybe this is the answer to this year's vacation dilemma - do we stay close to home or travel across the country? If your vote is for staying close to home for a special weekend, you can get signed up for this rafting adventure and you'll be set.
