The Doe Canyon Wildfire Now Over 200 Acres In Size
The fire is burning in the San Juan National Forest in southwest Colorado.
A lightning strike started the fire last week. A 16 fire crew continues to battle the wildfire inside the San Juan National Forest just east of the Lower Dolores River Canyon. Since the fire started on June 18th, the Doe Canyon Fire has grown to more than 200 acres in size.
The latest update from the InciWeb Incident Information System website reports that the fire is burning in Doe Canyon just south of FR 506 in southwest Colorado. Crews continue to work to keep the fire within a confined area so as not to threaten the timber. A few local forest roads are closed in the area. Authorities ask that persons use caution driving along regional roads and watch for firefighter traffic, especially in this area between the town of Dolores along highway 184 and the town of Dove Creek on highway 141.
