Recently during a drag race the new Tesla Model S P85D, set a World Record for an electric car while beating a new Dodge Challenger Hellcat. You might think the 691 horse powered Tesla had no chance against the big HEMI V8, but you would be wrong.

The Tesla's twin electric motors can accelerate the car from 0 to 60mph in just 3.2 seconds. That killer display of power makes it the fastest electric car in the world running an 11.6 @ 114.6 MPH 1/4 mile with a very impressive 1.65 60′ time.”

While a new Tesla comes with a very big price tag the good news is that electric car technology is advancing at a good clip.

Everything new that is released is always a big ticket item for a while, but the cost does eventually come down.

If you remember when DVD players first came out they had a big price tag, but today you can get one for under $100.
