A car accident turned tragic yesterday (Sunday, December 13) when a 15-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries following a car crash.

The girl, who has yet to be identified, was riding in the passenger seat of a 2004 gray Dodge Ram pickup truck when the driver, 20-year-old Dillon Burch lost control of the vehicle and rolled it over on northbound Moffat County Road 31 early Sunday morning.

The incident, according to The Colorado State Patrol is said to have happened at around 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, December 13, right around two miles north of Craig, Colorado, with Burch driving and the 15-year-old girl as his passenger.

According to authorities, 20-year-old Burch lost control of the vehicle and caused it to roll, which caused injuries to the girl in the passenger seat who eventually succumbed to her injuries after being transported to Memorial Regional Health in nearby Craig, Colorado shortly after the accident.

Because alcohol and speed are listed as contributing factors to the accident, Burch is facing several charges. These charges include felony vehicular assault, misdemeanor child abuse, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, and driving without a seatbelt.

In addition, Burch is facing weapon charges, which are not directly related to the case.

Colorado State Trooper Josh Lews has also said that Burch may face additional charges because of the unfortunate fate of his 15-year-old passenger. As of now, it is unclear what those charges might be, but they will be coming down from the 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
