Colorado by itself has more medals than 81 countries!

From this new Colorado residents perspective, it's pretty impressive that Colorado is currently tied with four countries in the 2018 Winter Games medal count. I get that this great state is home to some of the best winter sports locations in the world, but still.

As usual, the Europeans dominate the games. Norway's the current top dog leading the medal count with 9. Their total includes 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals. The Germans, the Netherlands, and Canadians are all tied for second place with 7 medals each.

Team USA is tied for third place after Steamboat Springs snowboarder Arielle Gold snagged the bronze medal. She and Coloradan Red Gerard, who took the gold in snowboard slopestyle, lead Team USA and Team Colorado. The home state tally looks good to continue given that Vail's alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin has yet to hit the slopes.

If Colorado continues to dominate and since Silverthorne temporarily renamed the town "Goldthorne" after Red's gold medal snowboard performance, should the state consider a temporary name change to something like "Medalroado"?
