I'm not sure how the scary clown phenomena got to where it is today, but the fact is it's taken the country by storm. Google "scary clown news stories" and dozens pop up. Coast to coast, from South Carolina to California, north to Michigan, and down to Texas, reports of scary clown encounters continue to grow. It now appears that Junction isn't immune from the hysteria.

I acquired (it might be someone from the radio station) pictures that appear to be here in Grand Junction of a scary clown "somewhere by the river." The exact whereabouts isn't clear but do appear to be legit. My source asked to remain anonymous but was willing to share these shots in hopes it may "help shed some light" on the situation.

I'm not sure if sharing these pictures helps anything but it certainly confirms there are those out there that are dressed as clowns, and up to something. It's their motivation that's unclear and that's what seems to have everyone on edge.

The 95 Rock syndicated morning show "Free Beer & Hotwings" isn't immune to the insanity as they spent several minutes on the topic just thing morning. The discussion has indeed gone viral with everyone giving their thoughts on the situation. Even Steven King has tweeted on the topic, "Hey, guys, time to cool the clown hysteria--most of em are good, cheer up the kiddies, make people laugh".

I've read several thoughts on what's going on; folklore with a modern twist, viral marketing, an expression human anxiety, or simply Halloween high jinx.  Whatever is going on, it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. If anything, it's going to continue and Halloween is still over three weeks away.

**Editor's Note: don't be alarmed, our DJs went out and had some fun today.
