Plan To Give Back This National Public Lands Day
The BLM is asking for your help this National Public Lands Day.
The 25th Annual National Public Lands Day is Saturday, September 22ed. It's an opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to give back to some of their favorite outdoor places. The Bureau of Land Management is looking for volunteers to help clean up a few locations including the local rifle and pistol range. It's located about 6 miles north of H Road, on 27¼ Road. It consists of a pistol range and a 1,000-meter rifle range with 12 sheltered shooting benches. It's a busy place. Thousands of shooters visit the range annually. The shooting range will be closed on that Saturday the 22ed from 8 AM to 2 PM while volunteers are working and cleaning up.
They'll also be doing some trail work on Rustler's and Mary's Loops Trails in the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area.
The BLM needs volunteers next month as well to help with some work along the Butterknife Trail, Palisade Rim Trail. There's a big overnight river clean-up project scheduled along the Gunnison River through Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area as well.
If you're interested in helping with any of these projects, be ready to work. Don't forget your gloves, snacks, water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and work type closed-toe shoes or boots. Waring long sleeves and pants are recommended too. Leave your tools at home. The BLM will provide everything you'll need to handle the task at hand.
