Most Canadians Don’t Want Americans Visiting During Pandemic

Just yesterday we got word that many Governors in Mexico are asking their government to restrict American travelers due to cases of coronavirus on the rise, now it seems that Canadian citizens feel the same way. According to 9 News, a new poll shows that 81% of Canadians want their borders to stay closed to non-essential travelers.

There is still 14% of Canadians that would like to see the borders open up now but only in areas where coronavirus numbers are low. The remaining 5% is divided with 3% believing it's time to open the borders now and 2% saying they are unsure about how to move forward at this time.

The U.S., Canada, and Mexico all made the agreement to keep all shared borders closed to non-essential travel until July 21st. This agreement was first made on March 18th there is no word on that being extended at this time.

If a citizen of a country is returning home they are exempt from the border closure, but Canadian citizens are expected to self-quarantine for a 14 day period.

Other exemptions are being made for healthcare professionals, airline crews, and truck drivers that need to complete their jobs.

It's going to be interesting to see how travel resumes after the agreement ends on July 21st or if that will be extended. Obviously, that will depend on how things go moving forward with cases of coronavirus.

Just like so many other things right now we will just have to be patient to see how and when we are able to travel internationally. But I think we can all agree the sooner we can return to normal the better.
