While I have used the word vaccinated in my vocabulary way more than I expected to, I truly thought that once vaccinated for COVID-19 you were in the clear, apparently, that is not the case. As two nursing home employees in Fort Collins tested positive for COVID-19 in March after both were fully vaccinated, according to 9 News. It's alarming to find out that you can be fully vaccinated and still contract COVID-19.

The Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab facility found a positive test occurred with one of their employees that was detected through surveillance testing. That employee was not vaccinated, at that point, further testing was done on all employees and four other staffers tested positive for the virus. Two of the total five employees that tested positive had received the full COVID-19 vaccine.

When Someone Contracts COVID-19 After Being Fully Vaccinated It's Called a "Breakthrough Case"

While I understand that the vaccine is not 100% guaranteed to stop you from contracting COVID-19 I just expected it to always work. Regardless, health officials reming people that positive cases among those who choose to be fully vaccinated is still expected, although rare.
