Having a face for radio, they must be desperate I thought when I was asked to help the Partners 2016 auction Friday night. Being new to town, I wasn't sure what I had agreed to take part in but knowing what I do now, I'm sure glad they asked me.

The Mesa County Partners, their mission is to make a difference in the lives of young people by helping them develop a positive self-image, a sense of belonging and an acceptance of responsibility for their actions. The annual auction on KJCT-TV News 8 this past Friday was very successful in raising not only dollars but awareness for the program.

It had been a long time since I had done anything on TV. As host of the "T" table, it was my job to help sell the great deals being offered online during the auction and encourage viewers to up the bids. A special "thank you" to all the local businesses that donated the great items. I wish I had a little extra cash or I would have jumped on several of the items up for bid. There were quite a few items that peaked my interest.

Now that the annual event is over, it's easy to let the needs of Mesa Country Partners fade from our memory. I wanted to take this time to remind us all that the need for volunteers, mentors, and donations continues. Please keep the organization in your thoughts. The need continues. Give a cash donation if you can. If not, please consider giving of your time. You'll be like me, very glad you did.
