A local Grand Junction restaurant, Berna B's caught fire last night. The restaurant, located at 2913 F Road Unit 101, a couple of doors down from All-Pro Liquor, experienced the fire around 9 p.m.

Luckily, Berna B's closes at 2 p.m. on weekdays and therefore no one was in the building and no one was hurt in the fire. It was reported to Grand Junction's fire department that smoke was seen coming from the building and crews were dispatched to the restaurant to check it out.

Berna B's has been offering take-out services for the last couple of months due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic but was recently allowed to open back up to the public, with the proper restrictions put into place by Colorado governor Jared Polis.

The Grand Junction fire department said that the fire wasn't very big, and the restaurant plans to reopen in a couple of days.

No acts of arson are suspected, as authorities noted that they found a 'hot spot' in the wall and the blaze likely occurred because of an electrical issue. An electrician was scheduled to take a look at the restaurant and determine the cause of the fire today.

Oddly enough, another fire was reported recently in Grand Junction between 25 and 26 Roads, but the two do not appear to be related in any way. That fire has been contained, although injuries were reported.

Berna B's is somewhat of a hidden gem here in Grand Junction and is known as one of the best restaurants for breakfast in the Grand Valley. Luckily, the building didn't suffer enough damage to close its doors for good and should be back open within a few days.
