A Grand Junction cafe and bakery is taking on more square footage, and it's all because you said so.

Be Sweet Cafe and Bakeshop at 150 W. Main Street is expanding. By that, they mean they are increasing the size of their seating area, and adding new menu items. Along the way, they'll be adding more merch and various other perks.

What brought this about?

A few weeks ago, Be Sweet Cafe and Bakeshop posted a question on Facebook. They asked their patrons if the cafe should take over neighboring space. According to today's (February 25, 2021) Facebook post, "Well the verdict is in and we are SO excited to announce that we are EXPANDING!!!"

That's right, you influenced the decision to expand the seating space and menu selection at the cafe.

What does the future hold for Be Sweet?

This expansion seems to go well beyond simply adding more seating. According to today's Facebook post:

Stay tuned for all the details on our newest project including NEW menu items, lots more seating, a look “behind the bakery”, NEW Merch, GIVEAWAYS, & so much more...

Is this a big deal?

It is to me. While I'm not necessarily part of the "cafe" crowd, I've come to be something of a fan of Be Sweet. For some mysterious reason, lawyers seem to like me. A measurable percentage of my life has been spent serving jury duty at the Mesa County Courthouse located immediately across the street. Let me tell you when you're doing a month-long stretch of jury duty, you come to appreciate a conveniently located coffee house and bakery.

This is a heartwarming event. Here we are in the middle of a pandemic, and yet through it, all, a locally owned and operated business is doing well enough to not only keep chugging along but to expand. Like their Facebook post says, "Thank you all so much for your support this past year! We cannot wait to give you more space to enjoy all the love + positivity we hope to bring you at Be Sweet!"

Remember, this all started with you.

As stated above, this business decision began with a question directed to you, the local customer. Be Sweet wanted to know if you would enjoy more seating and more menu options. You responded in the resoundingly positive. This is an example of community support in action.
