Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. It's also the time of year when gas prices start heading up. Already gas prices are at their highest levels in years. A quick GasBuddy search finds the lowest price in Grand Junction is $2.82 at the Conoco on North Ave & 30 Road. There's no need to hit the road to find something fun to do where's there are plenty around town.

 

The 2018 Junior College World Series- Grand Junction has been the host of the Junior College Baseball World Series for over 50 years. There's nothing like an afternoon at the ballpark this holiday weekend.

The Colorado State Series BMX Races- BMX and biking fans plan to take in the show at Grand Valley BMX. They're hosting several races over Memorial Day weekend. There's competition on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday.

Food Truck Fridays- Kick off your holiday weekend with an evening of food, music, and fun at Lincoln Park. Bring out your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy this summer kick off party! Don't forget about the beer garden!

The Riverfront Concert Series- The summer concert series gets underway on Thursday, May 24th with Chris Hillman & Herb Pederson. One of rock's pioneers and founder of "Country Rock," Chris Hillman is an icon of contemporary American music having been in The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and the Desert Rose Band. Showtime is 7:30 PM and gates open at 5:30 PM at the Fruita section of the James M. Robb Colorado State Park. Tickets are free but have a $3.00 processing fee and can be purchased online or at area City Market stores. A ticket is required for admittance.
