Everyone In Colorado Appears To Be Driving This Weekend
Plan for clogged highways across Colorado this weekend.
I'll be one. I'm heading across Colorado on I-70 back to Missouri for the holiday weekend. I'm won't be alone. AAA estimates there will be over 800,000 Coloradans traveling a least 50 miles to get to grandma's house. That number is up about 7% from a year ago. Across the country, 54 million Americans are expected to hit the road.
Colorado drivers should plan for the heaviest traffic on Wednesday evening and again on Friday. There will be plenty of orange barrels to work around however, CDOT will suspend construction on those projects starting at noon on Wednesday. Work will resume on Monday morning.
Gas is cheaper than it was a couple months ago but higher than last Thanksgiving. In Colorado, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.68. That's according to GasBuddy. Their website and app are handy for finding the cheapest gas on your trip. Check it out HERE. says.
Fouchentally the weather looks pretty good for most of the long holiday weekend. Colorado travelers shouldn't have too much trouble getting around.
