District 51 has been discussing pushing back school start times, like many other schools here in Colorado. It seems like they're getting closer and closer to making school start later.

Last night (Feb. 5) the Board of Education voted to change school start and end times, according to District 51's Facebook. These would be the times that school would start and end for elementary, middle and high schools in Mesa County:

  • Elementary
    • Start: 8:55 a.m.
    • End: 3:55 p.m.
  • Middle School + High School
    • Start: 8:00 a.m.
    • End: 3:15 p.m.

District 51 also stated on their Facebook that the Board of Education is planning to discuss the possible changes next month. The schedule may vary slightly from school to school but will be the same throughout the schools for the most part.

This will be a big change from the current schedule. Elementary schools in Mesa County currently start around 8:50 and middle schools and high schools start around 7:20.
