District 51 Planning for In-School Learning Announcement July 21

2020 has been the most unusual year that most of us will ever experience. Especially regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected almost everything we do. One of the biggest discussions going on is the plan for the upcoming school year.

Most people have no idea what to expect but after looking at the Mesa County Valley School District 51 Facebook page yesterday I got a much better understanding. The details were commented under a post regarding the newly launched Stuff The Bus campaign which is a school supply donation drive on now.

One person commented that they would not be donating to Stuff The Bus until more details come out about kids back in school or not. That's when an author on the District 51 page commented,

"As the superintendent has stated in several email and video updates, the district is planning for in-person learning this fall, with options for remote or hybrid learning based on parent needs and preferences. This would only change if there is a big change in COVID-19 case numbers and/or there is a directive from the state or local health department or governor's office."

Final plans will be announced at the July 21 meeting. Those details will flesh out how exactly things will work. For now, we can at least say the plan is to return to in-person learning with options, but the details of how exactly that will look are still being fleshed out in advance of the July meeting.

Hopefully, those details help parents set a plan for when kids are going back to school. And let's not forget about the original reason for the post which is the Stuff The Bus campaign.
