With schools across the Grand Valley currently closed, a lot of children are struggling to get their daily meals. However, District 51 and Lunch Lizard food trucks have been providing emergency meal services to students 18 years of age and younger, and the timeline for these services has just been extended.

District 51 and Lunch Lizard began these emergency meal services on March 23rd and will continue to do so through June 30th due to high demand. The Lunch Lizard trucks stop at ten different District 51 schools and give out lunches via drive-thru, walk-up, or bike-up every weekday from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

The truck sits at each location for up to 45 minutes and has been serving more than double the amount of meals that it had prior to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and Colorado's 'Stay-at-Home' order.

It's so nice to see businesses like Lunch Lizard helping out those less fortunate in our community during these tough times. With kids unable to attend school, they're missing out on so many things, such as one-on-one interaction with their teachers, playing and socializing with friends, and of course, school lunches. Luckily, District 51 and Lunch Lizard are helping fulfill one of those needs.

You can find exactly when and where the meal services are being offered on District 51's website.
