Denver Ranked 5th Best State Capital to Live In
First is the worst, second is the best, and...fifth is still pretty good, right?
I would say so. After analyzing economic factors and professional considerations, rent.com has ranked Denver as the fifth best state capital in the U.S. to live in.
Denver's rating was derived from how its median income, cost of living, commuting time, walking and biking access, and business opportunities compares to the rest of the country.
"With its proximity to picturesque, snow-capped mountains, and plenty of sunshine, Denver today is an outdoor lover's dream," said the blog. "The largest city in Colorado, Denver serves as a central hub for industry and transportation."
Rent.com estimates that a one-bedroom apartment in the Mile High City costs around $1,928 per month — expensive, but low enough to place the city in the top 10.
However, Denver isn't the only fifth best state capital. We tied with Boise, Idaho, which has an estimated one-bedroom apartment cost of $1,340 per month.
Our NoCo neighbor Cheyenne, Wyoming, surpassed Denver, coming in third with an approximate one-bedroom apartment cost of $930 per month. Utah, Texas, and Wisconsin also landed their capitals in the top five.
Augusta, Maine took the (unfortunate) cake as the worst capital to live in, followed by Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Jefferson City, Missouri.
Perhaps Denver's rating makes you feel proud...or you can use it to tell people not to move here. After all, we are only fifth.
