
Attorney Suffers Spinal Fractures After Shocking Assault During Colorado Court Hearing
Recently, an already dramatic court case revolving around a tragedy that took place in Colorado turned even more dramatic when the victim’s uncle assaulted one of the defense attorneys in the courtroom.
A Recent Tragedy in Colorado
The court case is a result of a tragedy that took place in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colorado. The incident, which occurred on East Iliff Avenue, saw 19-year-old Christopher Ramirez-Rodriguez fatally hit a 12-year-old boy who was riding a scooter with his car. Unfortunately, the boy did not survive the accident.

Two of the boy’s family members, his father, Michael Ashby, and his uncle, Daniel Alexander Ashby, both attended a court date surrounding the accident this past Monday, December 8, 2025. It was then that another incident took place that landed the boy’s uncle behind bars.
Colorado Victim’s Uncle Assaults Defense Attorney
Ramirez-Rodriguez is represented by a 69-year-old lawyer by the name of H. Michael Steinberg, who is currently in the hospital following an incident at the case’s most recent court date this past Monday.
According to records, Daniel Alexander Ashby was trying to get a look at the man who accidentally killed his nephew when Steinberg attempted to stop him. It was at this point that the 36-year-old Ashby used an MMA move to take the attorney to the ground.
How Injured is the Colorado Lawyer?
It has been reported that the attorney suffered multiple spinal fractures stemming from the incident, as well as a shattered pelvis.
Ashby was arrested for assault and is being held on a $75,000 bond.
