How Was a Colorado City Named the Best in the U.S. for Pizza?

There's no shortage of great options for pizza all across the state of Colorado, but it goes without saying that the Centennial State isn't necessarily known for its pizza. Despite this perceived fact, a major Colorado city was recently named the "best pizza city" in the nation.

So, one has to ponder what kind of criteria was agreed upon that landed this Colorado city at the top of the list.

How Did Denver, Colorado Become Known as the Nation's Best Pizza City?

In case you missed it, a study from a website known as List From Clever ranked the top cities for pizza as 2024 came to a close and while these kind of distinctions are usually given to places like Brooklyn, Detroit, or possibly even St. Louis, the study named Denver, Colorado as the best pizza city in the United States.

Interestingly, none of the top five pizza cities are necessarily synonymous with pizza, as Denver was trailed by Buffalo, Boston, Philadelphia, and San Diego.

The criteria taken into account included things like pizza restaurants per 100,000 residents, average Yelp rating for pizza restaurants, the price of a large pizza, the average amount of income spent on pizza, and a "pizza passion score" based on Google searches.

2024 marks the first year that Denver was named the top pizza city in the country, a distinction that was held for two consecutive years prior by Detroit.
