In 2021, Denver was found to be (almost) the least-overweight city in the United States, a report from WalletHub said.

According to WalletHub's study, 'over 40 percent of U.S. adults are obese,' stating that things like America's access to fast food and cheap, unhealthy grocery items are partly to blame.

WalletHub used 19 'key indicators,' like access to recreation facilities, the availability of healthy foods and the number of adults with health conditions (such as diabetes and high cholesterol), to compare 100 of the United States' most-populated areas.

Only two Colorado locations were included in the study: Denver-Aurora-Lakewood and Colorado Springs.

Denver ranked 99th, and Colorado Springs ranked 92nd, out of 100. The only metro area found to be less overweight than Denver was Honolulu, HI. Denver and Colorado Springs both had some of the lowest percentages of diabetic adults, and the Denver area also ranked 96th out of 100 in the percentage of adults with high blood pressure.

This year, Denver was also named the 8th best city in the U.S. for an active lifestyle, while Colorado Springs was placed at 42 out of 100.

The most-overweight cities named in WalletHub's study were located in Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana and Arkansas.
