The U. S. Coast Guard seized approximately 1,250 pounds of cocaine with a street value worth of $19 million. The cocaine was discovered when the Coast Guard cutter Bertholf received a report from a Customs and Border Protection aircraft crew of a small go-fast vessel about 305 miles southwest of Cocos Island, Costa Rica.

The Coast Guard was able to stop the vessel and found a package that later tested positive for cocaine. Six suspected smugglers were detained and transferred to Drug Enforcement Agency officials in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The go-fast boat was declared a hazard to navigation and was sunk. The Coast Guard unloaded the cocaine at their Miami Beach Base were is will be placed into evidence.

How would you like to be the guy that has to tell the drug lord that he just lost $19 million dollars of cocaine to the United Sates Coast Guard? I bet someone lost his or her head over this.
