It has been quite an incredible season for the CMU baseball Mavericks. The Mavericks, with a record of 30-6m have moved up to fourth in the national rankings. The NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball Writers polls this week have the Mavericks moving up from 7th place in the rankings.

The Mavericks are coming off a series sweep of Metro State this past weekend - their fourth 4-game series sweep of the season. A look at the RMAC standings shows the Mavericks far ahead of every team in the conference.

CMU is 24-2 in conference play, leading the Mountain Division of the RMAC. Second place Regis is 14-10, while Colorado Mines sits in third place at 11-13, and Colorado Christian is in fourth at 4-22.

Meanwhile, over in the Plains Division, things are a lot tighter. New Mexico Highlands leads the standings at 17-11, while CSU Pueblo is 15-11, followed by Metro State at 9-15, and Adams State at 8-18.

The only conference losses by the Mavericks came against Colorado Mines and CSU Pueblo. With a #1 seed all but locked up for the RMAC Tournament, which will be played in Grand Junction this year, the Mavericks are keeping an eye on the upcoming regional. A  #1 ranking in the Central Region would give the Mavericks the chance to host the Regional at Suplizio Field.

The Mavericks are on the road this weekend against Colorado Christian, and will return home for the final two weekends of the season against Regis and Colorado Mines, before the RMAC Tournament gets underway.
