Central High School has hired Shawn Marsh to replace Vern McGee as their football head coach. McGee stepped down after 17 seasons the last few have been tough for the Warriors. That doesn’t mean McGee is a bad coach but sometimes after a long run there needs to be a change and that is what has happened.

Shawn Marsh takes over a team that some say has under-achieved the past few years and after watching them on Friday Night Lights I would agree. The Warriors have had some good talent but just never got the breaks that winning teams get.

Marsh graduated from Central High School in 1987 then from Mesa State College in 1992. He coached the Grand Junction Tigers to the 5A state title game, then in Fruita for the 2005 season and the last couple of years Marsh was an assistant coach at CMU.

I think Shawn Marsh will do a great job at Central, he’s a good coach and with a little fresh blood I think the Warriors will have a good season this year
