7 Bands NOT in the Hall of Fame
Now that Blues legend Albert King, Public Enemy, songwriter Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Heart and Rush are in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, here is a short list of bands NOT in the Hall. My question, Why not?
Stevie Ray Vaughan—we only have 5 studio LP’s from SRV but all 5 have reached platinum sales in the U.S. and in the rock world Stevie Ray Vaughan is considered one of the great guitar gods. The man could flat play his ass off.
Motley Crue—here is a band that has sold over 80 million copies worldwide and was one of the first MTV hits. In the U.S. Shout at the Devil is 4x platinum, Theater of Pain is 4x platinum, Girls, Girls, Girls is 4x platinum and Dr. Feelgood is 6x platinum! That’s a lot.
Def Leppard—here is one of the best selling bands of all time with over 65 million LP’s sold worldwide and they are one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies in the U.S. Pyromania and Hysteria.
Iron maiden—one of the great live bands and for 35 years the leader in Heavy Metal album sales. They outsell ALL metal bands including Metallica. They have a huge fan base and still play big venues when most bands from their era play small clubs now.
Judas Priest—the originators of the 2 guitar attack. They are the creators of the Heavy Metal wardrobe and over the past 42 years they have sold over 40 million LP’s worldwide, plus Rob Halford is one of the great voices in Metal.
KISS—really, one of the most iconic bands of all-time with over 100 million LP’s sold worldwide.
Deep Purple—every kid who has ever picked up a guitar learns the opening riff to “Smoke on the Water” and without a doubt one of the cornerstones of rock. They should have been of the first.
