Colorado is filled with iconic, well-known names that are unique to the state and part of its overall identity. Places like Mile High Stadium, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Casa Bonita scream Colorado.

However, there are also examples that suggest that Coloradans aren't as creative as they could be with naming things. While unarguably iconic, even Mile High, Red Rocks, and Casa Bonita aren't beaming with creativity.

A new trail opening in the mountains, as well as other, classic examples, raise legitimate questions about this sense of creativity, or lack thereof.

New Trail Suggests Colorado's Laziness with Names

On Friday, April 19, 2024, a new trail near Salida, Colorado will be established with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a group hike, and a bike-along event.

While residents are excited about what the new trail will bring, the name is about as lackluster as it gets. Believe it or not, the trail will be officially dubbed "Maybe." 

However, this certainly isn't the first and only example of Colorado being lazy when it comes to names.

Other Examples of Colorado's Laziness with Names

If you've ever driven through the Glenwood Canyon just east of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, you've probably noticed a sign indicating an exit for No Name. While Coloradans that have driven past this sign, or perhaps have a habit of stopping there are probably used to it, there's no doubt that there are plenty of options that would've rolled off the tongue easier.

On the other side of the state, the suburb of Pueblo West exhibits many examples suggesting laziness including adjacent streets with the name "Kyle," as well as Spanish street names that make little sense when translated.
