Saturday was the 4th annual Grand Valley Beer Festival at CMU and here are a few that caught my taste buds just in case you missed the event. I will admit that I didn’t taste every beer but from the ones I did here are the ones you might want to check out.

For those who enjoy a good lager or pilsner I found a couple you should put on your list to try.
Upslope Brewing Company had their Craft Lager on display; this is a clean light-bodied beer brewed entirely of malted barley. This is a great fishing beer just pack up a cooler with a bag of ice and it will help you beat the heat.
Full Sail Brewing Company brought their Session Lager and it was a big hit. This classic all-malt lager is what American lagers used to be with a hint of an import-style. To me this is a BBQ beer with great flavor and it even comes in an old 11oz stubby style bottle. This beer took the Silver Medal at the Grand Valley Beer Festival.
This year’s Gold Medal winner was Pug Ryan’s Brewing Companies Peacemaker Pilsner. I really liked this beer that uses Nobel hops and is brewed in the classic Bohemian style. If you find this a store near you I highly recommend you pick up a six pack and enjoy.

For those of you who like a little more body to your beer here are a few very nice IPA’s to enjoy.
I don’t know much about the Moab Brewery but I did like their Johnny’s IPA. This golden light malt beer has a citrus aroma and a nice bite at the end due to the four bold American hops. If you are into the IPA’s this is a good beer to check out.

If you have not done so make sure you try the newest beer from the Palisade Brewing Company Hula Hoppie. This IPA has a zesty lemon and tangerine fragrance with a mild hop bite at the end. If you are one who doesn’t like IPA’s because of their bitterness this is one you might want to try. It won the Silver Medal this year.

The Gold Medal winning IPA this year was the Odell Brewing Companies IPA. Odell took the traditional English IPA and put an American twist on it. With the highly aromatic America hops that create that distinctive bitterness of an IPA you can’t go wrong with this one.

Those are just a few of the tasty brews I found at the 4th annual Grand Valley Beer Festival and you might want to mark your calendar for May 16th 2015, that is the date for the 5th annual event at CMU.
