A yearling bear that was spotted fleeing the East Canyon fire in mid July, West of Durango, is healing well at the Frisco Creek Rehabilitation Facility.

The cub sustained severe burns and was rescued by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Upon pick up, “You could tell it was really hurting,” said wildlife officer Steve McClung.

CPW took to Twitter this week stating, "the bear is almost ready to have its bandages taken off and should be released in the coming weeks".
