Vote For Grand Junction’s Theme Song
I posted a Facebook question yesterday asking what Grand Junction's theme song should be and got a lot of great answers. We narrowed it down to five and these are the results.
1. Motley Crue - Home Sweet Home
Chris suggested the classic Motley Crue hit 'Home Sweet Home.' This one definitely shows a certain level of pride attached to living in Grand Junction. Our town gets a bad rap sometimes, mostly from out of towners, but this song says quite the contrary.
2. Rehab - Bartender
Heather suggested the 2008 hit from Rehab, Bartender. While the lyrics are about a nasty breakup, it's a really catchy song, and perhaps could be seen as an homage to the service industry.
3. Bigwig - Cheers Theme
I love Connie's idea of Grand Junction's theme song being the same as the theme song from Cheers. It's a really nice song about getting through life's obstacles and the nice feeling of going somewhere "where everybody knows your name."
4. Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55
While this song from Sammy Hagar suggested by Jess might encourage speeding, I feel like its vibe fits that of Grand Junction in some ways. It's kind of a blue-collar, working-class kind of classic rock song, and yes, there are people in town that can't drive, in this case, 35 on North Avenue.
5. Doug Aldrich - Yakety Sax (Benny Hill Theme)
This one just made me laugh. Brandon suggested that our theme song should be the same as the theme song from Benny Hill, which I personally find hilarious. Can you imagine? Well, it's up to you to decide who wins.
