It's a strange time that we're living in here in America. We were shut down because of a pandemic, then came the murder hornets, followed by protests and riots in the streets. It's unclear what exactly the motivation was, but a Grand Junction man says that the American flags at his residence were recently burned by vandals.

The man, Robert Jones, was not home at the time of the incident, but rather was informed by a neighbor that his property was vandalized. He returned to find that his flags had been burned and thrown on the ground and that the stickers on two of his vehicles had been removed.

It sounds like the vandalism was random, and politically motivated, as the only sticker that was partially left on his vehicle was a Trump sticker.

Jones made a point to say that while he does support Trump, that he respects the views of people that don't as much as those that agree with him. He also made a note that he didn't think it was fair for the vandals to take their frustration out on the flag.

Unfortunately, Jones didn't have any security cameras on his property and wasn't able to catch the vandals on film, so it's likely that they won't get caught.

Vandalism and crime happen all the time, no matter where you live. I will say this though, despite this unfortunate incident it has been nice to see that the protests we have had in Grand Junction have been peaceful, and as far as I know, there hasn't been any looting. It's my hope that we can keep it that way.
