Two people are in custody after barricading themselves in a Grand Junction home forcing a standoff with Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies and Grand Junction SWAT team.

Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning (May 10), deputies attempted to contact 41-year-old Justin Edwards at a residence in the 500 block of 29-1/2 Road. Edwards refused to come out of the home and barricaded himself inside.

As a precautionary measure, notifications to residents and businesses in the area were sent out asking them to shelter in place. Authorities obtained a warrant, surrounded the home and requested multiple times that Edwards come outside.

After Edwards continued to refuse to leave the residence, munitions were deployed into the home to force Edwards out. He ultimately surrendered just before noon. Another person, 34-year-old Ivy Hansen who was in the house with Edwards, also surrendered.
