Who’s the Jerk That Vandalized Canyon View Park?
This type of crime makes absolutely zero sense to me. Why in the world would anyone want to damage our community, especially a park that so many families enjoy? As annoying and aggravating as it is someone thought they could do whatever they want and racked up more than $7,000 in damages to the park that sits at 730 24 road in Grand Junction.
The information has been shared hundreds of times after the Grand Junction Police Department made a Facebook post about it earlier today. The damage was done last Saturday (July 18th), where the vandals broke into the Grand Shelter and made a mess of everything. This includes damaging the turf, breaking restroom doors, destroying water fountains, and busting lots of deadbolts.
As you can expect law enforcement in our area is very eager to speak with anyone who knows anything about the damage that was done over the weekend. If you think you might have any small piece of information you're encouraged to reach out to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County. You can call 970-241-STOP or click here to submit an anonymous tip. If your tip leads to the arrest of the individual(s) you could earn a $1,000 reward.
Both the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff's Office have now shared this information so finding the person or people responsible will be a priority for our law enforcement. Plus this is where we live and it drives me nuts that people would damage something that was created for fun for all of us.
