I got a call yesterday from Greg Merschel with The Mesa County U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. He informed me that they are in desperate need of teen- age appropriate toys.

The "teen" problem is common for toy collection. When you think "toys" it's a teddy bear or a child's toy that comes to mind. We somehow have it in our minds that teens are old enough to understand their situation and a toy may not be something they really need. That's just not true. They too need to experience the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning. They also need to know that someone out there cares for them and that they weren't forgotten this holiday season.

The need is great and every year hundreds of families sign up for the program in Mesa County. Christmas is almost here but it's not too late to help. The goal this year, as it is every year, and that's to make sure every family gets toys. A reminder, all toy donations need to be new and unwrapped. If you would rather not buy toys, you can also donate cash on the Toys for Tots website.

Thank you again for your help and generosity. Merry Christmas!
