There are not one, but two, 4th of July parades in our neighborhood. With some careful planning, it made be possible to catch them both! Who's up for a 4th of July parade challenge?

First, I had no idea there was such a thing until a couple days ago. I'm not sure why nobody around the station mentioned anything about the 4th of July parades. My first thoughts are "why wouldn't we want our radio stations vehicles in the things?"  In a couple markets I've worked they've been pretty big deals. I've always wondered too why more communities don't host these all-American events.

The Town of Palisade gets theirs started first. It gets underway at 9 am. It starts at the Firehouse at Iowa to 3rd to Main Street heading south. There's an ice cream social in the park imminently following. Bring your lawn chair and bring the kids for a day of fun activities.

However, if you're going to attempt the challenge of catching both, there's no time for ice cream. If you position yourself near the start at the Firehouse you can bail as soon as the final entry passes, jump in the car and head to downtown Junction. When you arrive downtown plan to grab a spot near the end and with a little luck you should be able to take in both! Fun, right?

Grand Junction's parade starts at 10 am. It's downtown on Main Street. The Grand Junction Symphony is part of the festivities too. The parade in brought to you in part by the Credit Union of Colorado, Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates, and the City of Grand Junction.

Good luck and have a happy and safe 4th of July!
