One of the best things about Grand Junction is Suplizio Field and Stocker Stadium.

It's easy to take something like this for granted, but, the fact is, Suplizio Field is one of the finest small baseball parks in the nation, which is a big part of why it has hosted the National College Junior College World Series for over 60 years.

We have seen improvements in recent years to the facility, most notably the press box and hospitality suite, which services both fields, new seats at Suplizio, and the resurfacing of the football field among others. Of course, event parking remains a huge issue.

Anyone who attends high school games, CMU games, or JUCO must surely appreciate how fortunate Grand Junction is to have a facility like this. But, time marches on, and improvements and upgrades are always necessary. The Parks Improvement Advisory Board has identified some ways to improve the facilities and has approved a master plan.

Future improvements could include:

* New LED lights
* Resurfacing the track
* Improved bleachers for better views
* New water lines
* Electrical and IT upgrades

Long-term improvements that are at least being talked about are bathrooms under the third-base line stands, more space for teams, and changing the entrance to the fields. It looks like those items would be farther down the road.
