Teen Party In Grand Junction Ends with Shooting
A teen party in Grand Junction ended with one teen shot and another arrested Wednesday (Aug. 31) night.
During a party in the 1700 block of Christopher Court and Unaweep, a 14-year-old teen was shot in the back. They were later transported to St. Mary's Hospital with what authorities are saying should not be life threatening.
The 15-year-old teen who is suspected to be the one to pull the trigger was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, possession of alcohol by a minor, reckless endangerment and illegal use of a weapon.
Authorities are unsure if the shooting was intentional or an accident. There were a number of teens present at the party and alcohol is considered to be a factor. They are currently talking with all the persons present.
The investigation into the situation is ongoing and authorities should release more information later on Thursday.
