It's the first day of Rocktober and there are several shows worthy of your attention. Thursday night you'll have to choose between two great shows and both in downtown Junction.

Let's start with fellow Kansas City native and rapper Tech N9ne. He and several of his friends are in town Thursday night at The Mesa Theater. The show's selling well. If you're thinking about going, I'd get my tickets soon. This show just may sell out.

I've caught Tech several times. He's played Rockfest in KC. It's the largest one-day music festival, of any kind, in North America. It's always scheduled sometime in early May. If you've not been, I highly recommend adding Rockfest to your bucket list.

Perhaps you prefer rock with a mix of heavy metal, alternative, and reggae. If so, you'll not want to miss Skindred. This show too is Thursday night at Thunderstruck Valley.

Also on the bill is west coast rockers (hed) p.e. Matter of fact, Jahred is calling the show Thursday afternoon. We'll talk about the tour and the new single "Closer". Sign up to win tickets at 95 Rock and of course, I'll have your chance to call in all and win all next week.

Finally, if you're up for a road trip, Ghost will be at Paramount Theatre in Denver Friday night the 7th.

And yes, I plan to catch Skindred and (hed) p.e. and then I'm off to Denver to the Ghost show. The Swedish rockers are just too good to miss.

There you have it. I think you'll agree, Rocktober is off to a fine start. Of course, we'll keep you posted on all the upcoming shows the rest of the month and beyond. Just keep it locked on 95 Rock and keep checking online, Facebook, and Twitter. Rocktober rocks!
