While the team would eventually be moved to New Jersey and renamed the New Jersey Devils, the Colorado Rockies (NHL) made some significant memories in their time as a team, including a massive fight against the Boston Bruins in 1977 that, luckily, was caught on camera.
The footage shows that the score was 5-4 Rockies at the time that the fight broke out. This indicates that the fight began either late in the second period or early in the third, as the final score would be 6-4 for the Rockies.
Here we can get a pretty good idea of what the Rockies' uniforms looked like back in 1977, as one of the players can be seen observing what would later become an all-out brawl at Boston Garden.
Here we see the officials attempting to break up the beginning of the fight. This would prove to be an unsuccessful attempt.
This is the point where other members of both teams are seen rushing into the brawl, shown at the right of the photo.
Both teams can be seen in the all-out brawl here.
While grainy, it's fortunate that someone was able to capture and hang onto this moment in Colorado sports history.
